Sue Ann Reeves Aman

The FCHS Alumni Association is pleased to have Sue Ann (Reeves) represent the FCHS Class 1974.

Professional experience

Sue Ann’s professional experience lies in the distant past as she retired from her career as an academic CPA in 2010. She first worked as the Controller at Bank of Illinois in Mt Vernon, Illinois, before accepting a position as a Professor of Accounting at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Sue Ann left SIU-C to become the Director of the Accounting Program at Kaskaskia College. There, she developed online curricula for the State of Illinois for an educational exchange with Asia, developed and taught the first completely online courses for students deployed in Iraq during the war, and was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year.

Civic engagement

Sue Ann was an active member of the Mt Vernon community. She worked to support building a new High School in Mt Vernon. As a YMCA Board of Directors member, she helped bring YMCA Programming and a YMCA Center to the community. Sue Ann served on the Board of Directors that established the Mt Vernon Township High School Foundation, which raises funds to promote academic achievement.

Fairfield Community High School

Sue Ann graduated from the Class of 1974 before Title 9 came to FCHS, so there were no girls’ sports. She enjoys seeing the triumphs of the women athletes at FCHS. Sue served on the Student Council and was Senior Class President. She was honored by her teachers and classmates to receive both the Rotary Award and the American Legion Award.

Family

Sue Ann lives in Oklahoma City with her husband, Brad Aman (Class of 1975). Despite time and distance, their ties to Fairfield and pride in being FCHS graduates remain strong.
